Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.Role SummaryAs a Senior Offline Perception ML Engineer, you will be a member of the Perception team at Rivian, who develops offline perception ML models/algorithms for high quality auto labeling that directly impact safety critical self-driving features of our category defining vehicles.Responsibilities

• Develop the offline perception model whose capacity and accuracy leads the online production model. Such offline models can generate high quality auto labels from ground-truthing fleet and customer vehicle data, and supervise the onboard production model.
• Collaborate with data engineers for data discovery and curation, and leverage ML to create advanced tools for advanced data discovery and curation.
• Collaborate with ML platform engineers for improving the training efficiency of the offline ML models, and integrating the offline model into scalable inference pipelines for data generation.Qualifications
  • B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years industry experience on developing machine learning models for solving autonomy related tasks, such as:
  • Developed ML models using camera, radar, and lidar signals, for object/map/semantic segmentation detection, and tracking.
  • Developed offline ML model and/or heuristic algorithms using sensor signal sequence or detection sequence for providing high quality auto labels of 3D objects, map, and semantic segmentation.
  • Developed large multimodal models for visual and language understanding for data curation and indexing.
  • Demonstrated experience of end-to-end ML workflow, such as iterations on data discovery and curation, modeling, and metric evaluation to resolve corner cases in the system.
  • Strong modeling skills with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or MxNet.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment.
  • Good team player with great communication skills.
  • Passionately motivated to take ideas from the R&D phase to a product.Preferred Skills
    • Strong experience of lane/map perception in urban environments.
